چکیده
The paper develops the analysis of output bufFers in multipath multistage interconnection networks. The delay-throughput performance of output buffers in multipath multistage interconnection networks is closely related to the output traffic distribution which is the packet arrival rates a t each output link connected to a given output module. Many multipath networks produce nonuniform output traffic distributions even i f the input traffic pattern is uniform. We propose in this paper the performance model for output bufler analysis with respect to the nonuniform output traffic distribution and analyze the output buffer performance of several multipath networks b y our proposed analysis model. It is shown that the output trafic distributions are digerent to the various multipath networks and the output buger performance such as packet loss probability and delay gets better as nonuniformity of the output traffic distribution becomes higher.

Performance analysis of output buffers in multistage interconnection networks with multiple paths
Multistage Interconnection Networks with multiple paths can support higher bandwidth than those of nonblocking networks by passing multiple packets to the same destination simultaneously. I n the multiple path networks, the performance of the output buffer affects the whole system performance and is closely coupled with the output traffic distribution that is the packet arrival rate at each out...

In this paper, a mathematical method for analysis of synchronous packet-switching interconnection networks with jinite buffering capacity at the output of switching elements is presented. The proposed mathematical method is general in that it analyzed interconnection networks under uniform and nonuniform traflc with blocking. The existing methods for analysis of buffered interconnection network...
متن کاملPhenomenon of Higher Order Head-of-Line Blocking in Multistage Interconnection Networks under Nonuniform Traffic Patterns
Nonuniform traffic can degrade the overall performance of multistage interconnection networks substantially. In this paper, this performance degradation is traced back to blocking effects that are not present under uniform traffic patterns within a network. This blocking phenomenon is not mentioned in the literature and is termed higher order Head-of-Line-blocking (HOLk-blocking) in this paper....
متن کاملTraffic Control in Wormhole-routing Multistage Interconnection Networks
Nonuniform traffic patterns can severely degrade the performance of wormhole-routing multistage interconnection networks in multiprocessor systems. A wormhole-routing switch box architecture is proposed that is able to control the degrading effects of saturation trees on the uniform background traffic under nonuniform traffic patterns that are known a priori. An alternating priority mechanism i...
متن کاملFault Tolerance and Performance of Multipath Multistage Interconnection Networks
In building a multiprocessor system, we can minimize the system's mean time to failure by providing an architecture resilient to component faults. We compare the fault tolerance and performance characteristics of various fault-tolerant multistage interconnection networks. We primarily focus on networks composed of dilated routing components. A dilated router features redundant outputs in each l...
